I really liked this assignment. I had to draw the skeleton of my choice of a cartoon character. For my character I chose Tweety Bird. It was difficult to draw the ribs because he has such a small figure but I managed. I tried to put as much detail as I could with the bones. I think this assignment really helped me in the drawing and detail compartment. Oh ought I did well with this one.
I very much enjoyed this assignment. My final drawing was of an owl. The only thing that was difficult for me in this assignment was holding my hand in a awkward position to take the picture. Once I took the picture I had to draw my hand in that position and make an animal out of it. I used my pinkie and thumb for the ears and the rest of my hand made up the body. When I was finished I colored it in colored pencils for my final product. This assignment was very difficult for me. I tried it multiple times because the first couple times I couldn't get it all to fit on the paper. Once I was able to fit it, I had difficulty shading it. I shaded it as if the light source was hiting it from the front. I didn't like this assignment as much only because it was too much of a challenge for me. For this assignment I drew a square, triangle, and a circle with shading. I had to draw the shapes with value so it didn't look flat on the paper. To make value I had to make a designated light source and shade it so where the light was hiting it was light and as the light faded away it got darker. I had to make the shades on them gradually change. I thought I did pretty well with the circle and the triangle, but when i got to the square I started to get bored of it and it didn't look as good as it could. For the value chart assignment I had to make nine 1x1in. boxes and in each box I gradually had to make the shades darker. The first box had to be white and the last box had to be black. All the boxes in the middle had to be different shades of grey. When I first tried to make the value chart the shades weren't gradually getting darker, but the more I tried the better it seemed to flow. Eventually I got the right shading in each box with some practice. I didn't really like this assignment, only because I wasn't interested in shading things, but even though I didn't enjoy it I still feel as if I learned important skills from it. This assignment I had to draw a porportional shoe without lifting my pen as best I could. Although I did have a lot of practice with the hand contour drawings, this assignment was a bit tricky for me. I had difficulty making it the same size as it was in real life. It also wasn't my shoe do I was not familiar with the way it looked. Even though had trouble with it, it helped me to learn from my mistakes as an artist. For this assignment I had to set my pen down on a piece of paper and draw my hand with out lifting my pen. It is similar to the blind contour drawing except for this one I was able to look at my paper and my hand in order to draw it. I enjoyed this assignment because I feel as if it has really helped me with my drawing skills. It helped me not to draw in a "sketchy" way but to have smooth continuouse lines. This has really helped me improve upon my drawings In many ways. For this assignment I had to set my pen on a piece of paper and draw my hand without lifting the pen up or looking at my paper. At first I was frustrated with it because it didn't even look like a hand. After a few more tries and some practice I began to get better at it. Sooner or later not only was I able to draw the hand but also the details on the inside of the hand as you can see in the picture. When I got the hang of it I started to enjoy the blind contour drawing. I very much enjoyed working with oil pastels. I feel as though I have learned a lot from it. I created value by starting with the medium color of the three that I chose and gradually added darker or lighter colors. Overlapping was important to make the differnet colors gradually blend instead of seeing where one color ended and where the other color started. I showed a clear light source coming from the upper left corner of my paper. Value is important because it adds depth to the drawing making it seem as if it was 3-D and not flat on paper. |
